Cultural space – Fondation Alliances

In recognition of the lack of mentoring and training facility structures available to artists in Morocco and across the African continent, and with a proven track record of experience and expertise, Fondation Alliances inaugurated its Cultural space, entirely dedicated to African creation, in December 2020. Located in the heart of Casablanca, this new platform covers 700 m², including 500 m² of exhibition space featuring works by emerging artists. More than just an exhibition space, it is a showcase to highlight the work of talented artists with great potential.

L’empreinte de mes rêves

For its inauguration, Fondation Alliances presents L’empreinte de mes rêves (Traces of my dreams), a personal exhibition that reveals the work of Ahmed Chiha, a self-taught Moroccan artist. Ahmed Chiha draws inspiration from the earth and from mysticism to create works inhabited by different worlds and marvellous characters. Chiha’s art is imbued with his professional inclination as a gardener as well as his spiritual quest, expressed through diverse mediums such as leather, ceramic, and bamboo.

Launched in 2013, the Lcc Program, initially called La Chambre Claire, is an annual award supporting contemporary photography through the promotion and exhibition of an emerging artist.
Through this innovative program, Fondation Alliances wishes to give a concrete impetus to the young creative photography through a consistent cultural patronage policy, as part of an alternative approach to that of the art market.

Launched in 2014, the Passerelles programme aims to raise awareness of the visual arts among young people of Casablanca’s peri-urban areas.
Through each of Passerelles workshops, children and teenagers are introduced, on the advice of an artist invited by the Fondation Alliances, to an artistic medium, and are thus encouraged to develop their creative potential. Each session is also an opportunity to visit the artist’s studio.

The Museum of African Contemporary Art Al Maaden (MACAAL) in Marrakech is an independent, not-for-profit contemporary art museum. One of the first of its kind on the continent, MACAAL is dedicated to the promotion of African art through its diverse exhibition and education programmes, cultivating the interest of a wide audience base. The museum nurtures an understanding of contemporary art from Africa through collecting and exhibiting established and emerging artists, highlighting the creative energy and cultural diversity found across the continent.
